It is with great sadness that I pass on the news that one of our much-loved members - January - passed away peacefully last night after a long fight against cancer.

She will be sadly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her - and our sympathy goes to her family and friends at this difficult time.

This is very sad news indeed. I didn't know her for a long time yet, but I will always remember her as a very nice and brave person.

My thoughts and sympathies go to her friends and family.

I'm very sorry to hear that. Thankyou for letting us know; I know she made a lot of friends on here, and I think all of us will miss her. I can only repeat what everyone else has said, that my thoughts are with her family and friends.

Such sad news, she was so brave and fought so hard... Jan and I became very close, I will miss her very much.

My heart goes out to all the friends she made here, and to the friends and family she leaves behind.

This is not an easy post for me. I knew Jan quite well. She was brave, and had during life helped others working in the nursing industry, and in ground breaking areas.
When her cancer was confirmed, and she was given an option of tough treatment or a short but easy life, she never hesitated and insisted on chemo and radio therapy. Surgery after was required, but the treatment had affected her lungs and they hesitated to operate and she fought for the surgery. She only just came round after it, but she did. It seems so unfair that the illness came back with vengeance so soon.
I saw her a week or so before the end and my lasting impressions are her uncomplaining and the wonderful care her ex husband and her family gave her in that last few weeks. She could not have had better care anywhere, I saw that personally and and the welcomng they all gave me, a stranger, simply because Jan liked me, ashames me because I can only hope to be that kind.
She could be a nightmare, she could be so caring and I find I miss her still.FC
