All
Following some comments, we have made an update to the site so that the list of contests (which is now quite long) can be sorted. There is an explanation on the contest page, but here are the details for convenience:
By default when you first access the page, the contests are listed in order of creation. You can change this order by sorting alphabetically or by launch date (either ascending or descending) using the arrow buttons at the top.
Note that 'launch date' and 'creation date' order are different in some cases when the contest has taken a while to finalise.
As with any change to site behaviour, if anything looks wrong then please let me know ASAP.

My thanks to Lucia for highlighting the problem below.
As a follow up to the change, there seemed to be a bit of an issue with starting a new contest. I have hopefully fixed this problem. You need to click the name of the unstarted contest, and although it will take you back to the same page everything should then work OK. (Press the contest name again or the progress link.)
As before, please let me know if something doesn't behave as it should.

Normally, when you click on 'Continue' you're automatically redirected to the last puzzle you've been stuck on. Now it seems you can only directly access a contest via 'Progress'. |

My sincere apologies to everyone that there has been a significant bug left in the code since the sorting contests functionality was introduced. I have just fixed this, but you may suddenly see a different display on the contest list. Please could everyone who sees this check and make sure there is nothing untoward?
Many thanks.

Another very small change, and this time my thanks go to HenkMul for pointing out the less than perfect behaviour.
We have a handful of contests that have slightly different interaction with the solver: Tarot, Jane Austen, Anniversary, Themed Park and Canterbury Tales. Previously, to access one of these from the contests page you needed to click on the progress link because the 'contest name' link and 'Continue' link would just reload the page. Now clicking on either of those will take you to the progress page.

Firstly, thank you so much for taking note of my comments, the sorting ability really will make things easier for me (and I'm sure many others). (Sorry its taken me so long to notice, I've been extremely busy elsewhere!) Also very sorry that it seems to have caused a few problems with the site. Hope things are now OK. _________________ ----oOo----
