As I am stuck on all of the other contests I decided to give my brain some rest and try some primers. But the 10th section is still working on my brains.

I think I have decoded the bottom line, but I have trouble decoding the upper line (A's and B's). Is it unbroken morse? Or do I need a totally different approach? Binary, Baconian are also methods tried. What am I missing?

A bit of help would be appreciated Smile

TYIA and regards, Franca

I'm very impressed if you've managed to do that without the top line as well.

Hopefully you will see it isn't unbroken (in fact it is broken exactly as you would want). The longer strings should pin down the exact decoding. However, the plain text on its own may not make immediate sense...

Also, just in case you weren't aware, there are hints hidden in the HTML source for some of the puzzles in Puzzle Primer.

Thanx for the help Stretham. Although my 2nd decode was right I 'forgot' to add the first part.

And sneaky Wink that source info

Stuck exactly at the same point. I have the 2nd line.
Due to the impossibility of any ambiguity I have the first line, but not able to decode it to anything meaningful.

I am assuming the decoding for the 1st and the 2nd line are the same.   Question

Assuming you have read the source and there is no ambiguity with the type of code you are using...

You have the top line that looks normal but the second line appears to be backwards. What if the second line was reversed so it is no longer backwards?

I meant :
1.) There is no ambiguity in ascertaining what is A and what is B
2.) I am able to decipher the line 2, but I'm unable to decipher line 1

Confused

Not sure how you're stuck then. The second line is the harder to solve (being backwards) so the top line should be simple.

Note that neither line should make sense on its own. Is this the problem?

This puzzle will be tricky for few as the second line in itself decodes to a red-herring.  Razz
